New Orleans Turns 300 BY TONY RITTER, Vice Chargé de Presse ON MARCH 11, 2018, New Orleans Bailliage members celebrated the 300th birthday of their city. Bailli Yvette Cressend and Argentier National Honoraire Rufus Cressend hosted the event at Messina's at the Terminal at Lakefront Airport. Executive Chef/Chef Rôtisseur Leon West created a wonderful gastro- nomic adventure for attendees. The event theme was the found- ing of New Orleans by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville in 1718. Fittingly, many confrères came cos- tumed as some of New Orleans's more color- ful citizens. Joining the group were special guests Kelly Trevethan and David Gibson of AXR Winery and V Madrone Vineyards. AXR is an up-and-coming winery in Napa County. Mr. Trevethan is one of its owners, and Mr. Gibson is the winery's sommelier. They worked with Chef West to devise outstanding food and wine pairings for all to enjoy. Prior to dinner, Argentier National Honoraire Cressend inducted Professionnel du Vin James Moises. Following the meal, he presented Chef West with a Chaîne plaque and an award of merit for creat- ing the superb menu. As the night came to a close, the group collectively wished New Orleans a happy 300th birthday.
