Honoring a Legend at Olea BY MARK SABA, Vice Chargé de Presse AT OLEA RESTAURANT in New Haven on June 10, Connecticut Bailliage members enjoyed a vertical tast- ing of Thomas Dundee Hills pinot noirs produced from 2010 to 2015. Noting the subtle differences in color and taste from year to year compelled confrères to con- sider each vintage's strengths. Participants gained a new appre- ciation for the vertical-tasting experi- ence and expressed a desire for the chapter to hold similar events in the future. The event also cel- ebrated Bailli Provincial Honoraire/Grand Commandeur Gabor Huszar's forty years of Chaîne membership. He and his wife, Vice Chancelier-Argentier Honoraire Theresa Huszar, joined the orga- nization in 1978, while he was a research scien- tist at Yale. Serving as Connecticut bailli from 1996 to 2008, he was instrumental in building one of the Chaîne's finest wine cellars. The bailliage is still reaping the benefits of his outstanding leadership and vision. Attendees expressed their love, respect, and appreciation for all he has done for them. Owner/Executive Chef Manuel Romero's delicious meal showcased Iberian cuisine. The amuse-bouches included foie gras croquettes, caviar with crème fraîche, and green pea panna cotta . The evening at Olea was a delightful way to wel- come summer while honoring one of the chapter's most esteemed members.
