A Celebration of Summer and Olive Oil BY CAROLYN POPE, Vice Chargée de Médias Sociaux THE VAIL BAILLIAGE held its annual induction dinner at the lovely Mirabelle at Beaver Creek restaurant on August 12. Officiated by Argentier National Honoraire Rufus Cressend, the ceremony consisted almost exclusively of elevations. There was also a "chang- ing of the guard," as Bailli Carolyn Pope passed the torch to Doe Browning. Attendees sipped cava on the porch while a classical guitarist played. Former Lacs et des Bois Vice Chargé de Missions Fred Tresca transferred his position to Vail, while his wife, Debbie Tresca, took over as Lacs et des Bois vice chargée de mis- sions. Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Andrea Eddy and Vice Echanson Paul-Michael David were elevated, and Vice Chancelier-Argentier Jack Hunn was inducted and elevated in the same ceremony. Carolyn Pope is now vice chargée de médias sociaux. Karen Haeffner and Vice Chancelier-Argentier Jim Haeffner, who have been instrumental in the chapter's management, were hon- ored as well. Owner/Master Chef/Maître Rôtisseur Daniel Joly's menu spotlighted olive oils from around the globe. This tribute to the nectar of the Mediterranean even carried through to the sorbet, which utilized unfiltered Sicilian olive oil. Vail members are looking forward to Bailli Browning's creativity in event planning and the expan- sion of the bailliage under her leadership.
