CONTENTS The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is a global community with a presence in more than eighty countries on five continents, in which members share cama- raderie and a passion for the culinary arts. The Chaîne provides encouragement and aid to aspiring young chefs and sommeliers through its annual regional, national, and international competitions. To foster friendship around the globe, the U.S. Chaîne sponsors unique travel opportunities and has instituted an Ambassadors Program to assist members in connecting with international bailliages prior to travel. Many members independently attend Grand Chapitres in other countries and have made lasting friendships. Well represented on both the international Conseil d'Administration and the Conseil Magistral, the U.S. Bailliage is proud to be the largest Chaîne chapter worldwide. INTERNATIONAL EVENTS IN 2019: :: International Grand Chapitre & Annual General Meeting, Paris, France, JUNE 13-15 :: International Grand Chapitre of the Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs (OMGD), Douro Valley, Portugal, SEPTEMBER 11-15 :: International Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, SEPTEMBER 21 :: International Jeunes Sommeliers Competition, Seoul, South Korea, SEPTEMBER 21-22 WEARING OF THE Ribbon! This year's World Chaîne Day took place on Saturday, April 13. Celebrating the Chaîne spirit worldwide was inaugurated in 2015, with sixty countries participating in various ways. One thousand photos, a couple dozen video clips, and even several live streamings connected members of La Chaîne all over the globe. Local bailliages celebrated in many creative ways: at large and small organized events, at official chapitres, at Chaîne-member restau- rants for lunch or dinner, at private gatherings in members' homes. Connection, camaraderie, and celebration began at sunrise in New Zealand and ended at sunset in Cook Islands. Beating all expectations, the social media wall and the photo competition, which were introduced later, were major developments that enhanced the celebration. World Chaîne Day 2019, directed by Ari-Pekka Parviainen, chair of the World Chaîne Day Organizing Committee and member of the Conseil d'Administration, raised the bar to new heights. There's a world of La Chaîne out there, with a plethora of interna- tional events that members are always invited to attend. G 6 :: C H A I N E U S . O R G :: 2 0 1 9 v 1 INTERNATIONAL
