Induction Dinner BY ALAN D. BANTA, Vice Chargé de Presse THE WICHITA BAILLIAGE proudly conducted its fiftieth induction ceremony on March 7, 2018 at the Petroleum Club of Wichita. Officiated by Bailli Provincial Bill Salomon, with assistance from Bailli Theo Mellion, the ceremony featured a large class of inductees. The new members included Maîtres Rôtisseurs Katharine Elder and Bradley Steven; Chevaliers Chock Chapple, John Witt, and Matthew Michaelis; and Dames de la Chaîne Stella Galichia, Shonna Jones, Nancy Michaelis, and Kelli Mellion. In addition, Vice Chargé de Missions Michael Murray was elevated; Chevalier William Oliver received his grand commandeur pin; and eight confrères were welcomed into the Mondiale. The chapter was pleased that several of the evening's induct- ees were women. Attendees then savored a wonderful dinner designed by rising-star Executive Chef Abel Rodriquez and his team. Bailli Mellion, in conjunction with Vice Echanson Jamie Stratton and Chef Rodriguez, chose the perfect wines to pair with the fresh, seasonal preparations. This half-century induction dinner marked a spe- cial milestone for Wichita Bailliage members. "Begin as you mean to go on," goes the famous quote by Charles Spurgeon, and as they have enjoyed the camaraderie, celebration, and degustation of the Chaîne over the past fifty years, they mean to keep doing so over the next fifty!
