Uncorked Un-Chaîne-d BY KERRI-ANNE RECKORD, Vice Chargée de Presse WHAT BETTER WAY to celebrate the World Cup Final, particularly for fans of the French team, than with an international feast! On July 15, Co-Proprietors Anna Kay von Dueszeln and Debra Valentine treated the Jamaica Bailliage to just such a feast at Uncorked restaurant in Kingston. With the theme "The World of Wines Meets Jamaican Cuisine," the menu fea- tured fine wines paired with dishes associated with countries around the world. The twist? Each preparation had a Jamaican flair! French appetizers served at the reception were a fitting tribute to France's World Cup victory that day. After taking their seats at beautifully laid tables, attendees were wel- comed by Chambellan Provincial/Bailli Derek Elder and the Uncorked team. Chef Lucian Dunn gave animated descrip- tions of each dish, while Professionnel du Vin Debra Taylor spoke wittily about the wine selections. A culinary standout was the soup course, comprised of a hot soup floating atop a cold soup floating atop the wine accompani- ment—all in a shot glass! Divine! As a show of appreciation for the delicious cui- sine and impeccable service, attendees presented the Uncorked team with a commemorative Chaîne plate and pins. The Jamaica Bailliage certainly looks forward to a return visit. Vive la Chaîne!
