LETTER State of the Chaîne Dear Chaîne Members, Our beloved Chaîne has been and continues to evolve with changes to bring its operations current and find additional ways to benefit members Over the past year, our staffing has changed, and all of our operations have been and continue to be reviewed and updated While much of these efforts are handled by our wonderful staff behind the scenes, countless hours of volunteer time have been and will continue to be spent by you, our members, and we thank you We have about 200 active and engaged national and regional officers and baillis, along with about 400 additional members serving in local bailliages throughout the Bailliage des Etats-Unis For those of you within one of these officer categories, we thank you for putting on almost 1,000 events for members each year; yes, they are truly events: one of a kind, special, and fun! To maintain the organization and perpetuate it, we are in search of those that want to assist in officer positions Make sure to let your bailli know if you want to work as part of the bailliage leadership team Should you want to serve at the regional or national level, reach out to me and let me know what you would like to do to benefit the Chaîne and its members and the special talent and/or experience you have that may assist us The Chaîne is growing and is now in about 83 countries, with nearly 25,000 members worldwide The current membership of the Bailliage des Etats-Unis is now over 6,000 in about 130 bailliages We continue to need your assistance Introduce your friends, neighbors, and business associates to the organization, and they will thank you Our National Mondiale Weekend in Napa is almost upon us While some events have sold out, there is still room for you to participate in most of them and enjoy the fine wine, excellent food, and camaraderie of our events as well as observe our young sommeliers in competition and have a rollicking fun time Not long after that, we will have our third Culinary Weekend in Pittsburgh, featuring special programs for members, the competition of our young chefs, and more fun! Join us in Pittsburgh and calendar the dates for our 60th Anniversary celebratory Grand Chapitre in Baltimore The dates of all national events appear on the calendar in this magazine We look forward to spending time with many of you in Napa, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, or at one of the upcoming regional chapitres Vive la Chaîne!
