Wines Around the World BY CELIAMARIE MOORE, Vice Chargée de Presse Honoraire THE ELEGANT OCEANFRONT estate of Chevalier Walter James and Professionnel du Vin Tiffany James was the setting for Oahu and Honolulu bailliage mem- bers to come together to celebrate World Chaîne Day on April 21. In homage to the Chaîne's French heritage, participants toasted the occasion with spar- kling Ruinart Brut Rosé Champagne. Once everyone had assembled, a hush fell upon the room as a sacred Hawaiian kupuna prayed a special blessing and a kumu hula chanted while two dancers performed an ancient hula kahiko to honor the occasion. Professionnel du Vin James coor- dinated the amazing event, working closely with acclaimed Chef Travis "Ala" Sutton, the former owner of Le Guignol restaurant. The dishes were designed to pair with wines from premier growing regions in France, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Italy, and the United States. All of the wines were from Foley Family Wines. With her characteristic attention to detail, Professionnel du Vin James expounded on the delight- ful nuances of each selection and regaled the group with amusing anecdotes and fascinating insights into her personal world of wine. As this special evening drew to a close, confrères from both bailliages joined together in lifting their glasses in celebration.
