Annual Summer Picnic and "Fun"-Raiser BY ROBIN DU BRIN, Pacific Northwest Chargée de Presse Provincial ON THE BEAUTIFUL summer afternoon of August 5, Seattle Bailliage members gathered on the lawn surrounding Copperleaf Restaurant at Cedarbrook Lodge for their annual picnic and fund- raiser. The event featured both a live and a silent auction; the collection of appeal- ing items up for bid included Nathan Myhrvold's book The Photography of Modernist Cuisine and a bottle of Château d'Yquem Sauternes 2005. The proceeds, which exceeded $8,500, will go to culinary programs and scholarships supported by the Seattle Bailliage. Executive Chef Adam Stevenson brings thirty years of experience, as well as a passion and talent for cook- ing with fresh, local ingredients, to his position at Cedarbrook Lodge. He was raised in Albuquerque and, as a boy, enjoyed preparing meals with his mother and grandmother. His formal culinary education was at the Western Culinary Institute, an affiliate of Le Cordon Bleu. Chef Stevenson's menu showcased the bounty of the Pacific Northwest. Among the seasonal, locally sourced ingredients were items grown in the onsite garden. His inspired cuisine is mindful of the venue's mission to deliver a quality experience that epitomizes all that the region has to offer.
