SCHMID, Chevalier ON JULY 29, Galveston Bailli Jan Pozzi hosted an '80s-themed seafood extrava- ganza at the Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center. This event is an annual highlight not only for Galveston confrères but also for members of area bailliages. Members of the Houston, Austin, Beaumont, and Étoile Solitaire chapters are regulars at this event and, as such, are considered part of the Galveston Chaîne family. Attendees are treated to a sumptu- ous buffet spotlighting fresh seafood, served against the spectacular backdrop of the beachfront and bay. Having hosted the event for more than a decade, Vice Conseiller Culinaire Urs Schmid has passed the baton to Executive Chef Felipe Gonzalez. The chef has managed to put his own stamp on the event while keeping many of the crowd-pleasers that have people looking forward to it all year: endless waves of jumbo lump crabmeat, chilled jumbo gulf shrimp with all the fixings, and whole-roasted red snapper with crispy skin. The wines for this event are always chosen with great care and expertise. This year's savvy wine wizards included Vice Echanson Richard Quintanilla, Vice Conseiller Culinaire Schmid, Bailli Pozzi, Argentier National Honoraire James Pozzi, Chef Gonzalez, and Ma î tre Restaurateur Richard Ternstron.
