at enoSTEAK BY SHERYLE ULYATE, Vice Chargée de Presse ELABORATE HOLIDAY DECORATIONS greeted Newport Beach Bailliage members as they arrived at the five-star Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel on December 11. Their celebration was at enoSTEAK—a jewel of a restaurant in the hotel. In the center of the room is a dazzling focal point: a floor-to-ceiling, glass- walled wine-storage display. Richly colored paintings, by local artist Sandra Jones Campbell, of people eating, drink- ing, and generally enjoying themselves enhance the ambiance. The event was coordinated by Dame de la Chaîne Connie Spenuzza and hosted by Bailli David Weinberg. Executive Chef Brian Sundeen prepared a special holiday menu that Chef de Cuisine Steve Wan and his culi- nary brigade superbly executed. For two of the courses, diners could choose from different options. Vice Echanson David Ashkenaze worked with the enoSTEAK sommelier to select wines that would pair well with a variety of dishes. He then entertained the group with some fun wine facts from his research. Over the years, several Chaîne events have been held at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, which has been a reliably excellent venue. This evening once again met the highest standards of the Chaîne and was thoroughly delightful for all in attendance.
