Manship Magic BY MELISSA P. DANIEL, Vice Chargée de Presse JACKSON BAILLIAGE MEMBERS gathered on the warm evening of November 4 at the Manship Wood Fired Kitchen. This private-events venue was the brainchild of Sommelier Steven O'Neill and Executive Chef Alex Eaton, who, under the "Best of Jackson," were named "Best Rising Entrepreneur" and "Best New Chef," respectively. Upscale and trendy, yet casual and rustic, Manship received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2016. The wood-fired grill creates an unsurpassed dining experience with a special ambiance. Chef Eaton derives culinary inspiration from the flavors of the Mediterranean— specifically, Spain, northern Italy, Greece, and Lebanon—as well as the American South. Chevalier Elliott Haller delivered the wine commentary with grace, ease, and superior knowl- edge. Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Jennifer Schulmeier and Bailli Ralph Daniel perfected the menu and other details of this exciting night. Vice Chancelier-Argentier Marlin Rains also helped coordinate the event. The evening's fresh, seasonal preparations attested to the founders' philosophy for their restaurant: "It's… all about the food and drink, stripped of pretension, because authentic dishes yield authentic experiences." On this unforgettable evening, Jackson Bailliage mem- bers added their own accolades to the awards already bestowed upon the restaurant.
