Texas Tradition, International Spice BY KATHY SHAY, Southwest Chargée de Presse Provincial AUSTIN BAILLIAGE CONFRÈRES could see both the University of Texas Tower and the Texas Capitol as they arrived at the AT&T Conference Center on September 30, 2017 for their annual induction dinner—the chap- ter's largest celebration of the year. The event was an unrivaled success on all counts. Bailli Provincial Bill Salomon, who ventured from San Antonio with his wife, Vice Chargée de Presse Honoraire Judy Salomon, led a lively induction cer- emony. Dames de la Cha î ne Linda Cook and Luann Dickerson, Chevaliers Ray Bell and Will Meysing, and Chef Rôtisseur David Holtzman were all welcomed into the chapter. In addition, Vice Chargée de Médias Sociaux Sue Rondini and Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Tony Rondini were elevated. Executive Chef Mohammad Azhar's stellar menu reflected subtle tastes from his native India as well as flavors acquired from stints in the Caribbean, Middle East, and New Orleans. It was an impressive feat to blend tamarind, mole, smoked pear, and Szechuan cider into a cohesive meal! The University of Texas-themed setting, with its burnt-orange accoutrements, was the perfect background for a fall dinner that featured pumpkin decorations on the tables and charred pumpkin on the menu!
