Truffle Time at Vienna Café & Wine Bar BY JANA SOELDNER DANGER, Southeast Chargée de Presse Provincial Honoraire WHEN THE OWNER-CHEF of a terrific restaurant is a longtime Chaîne member and a dinner at his venue marks the debut of a new bailli, members can expect a great evening. Such was the case on November 8, at the Fort Lauderdale Bailliage's truffle dinner at the Vienna Café & Wine Bar. Owner/Chef/ Vice Echanson Per Jacobsen and Bailli Jerry Rosenthal, who are old friends, planned the event together. Confrères were excited to start a new Chaîne season and enjoyed reconnecting with one another during the reception. It was then time to be seated for the fabulous five-course meal. A native of Copenhagen, Vice Echanson Jacobsen has been a devoted Chaîne member since 1985. He opened the cozy, casually elegant Vienna Café in 1999. The restaurant, which offers classical European dishes and regional American specialties, is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. Following dessert, Bailli Rosenthal introduced Chef Courtney Burks, who had been busy in the kitchen all evening preparing the feast. The chef and his team were met with enthusiastic applause. Members departed well satisfied and looking forward to the bailliage events slated for the coming months.
