French Fall Dinner BY GRAIG SMITH, Vice Chargé de Presse THE CINCINNATI BAILLIAGE celebrated fall on September 18, 2017 at Jean-Robert's Table, where they were treated to a sensational meal prepared by Owner/ Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel. Born and trained in France, Chef de Cavel moved to Cincinnati in 1993 to helm the award-winning Maisonette restaurant. He later became founding partner/executive chef at the Mobil four-star Pigall's. Widely rec- ognized in the region for his culinary prow- ess, Chef de Cavel is also known for his tremendous generos- ity in giving back to the community. One recipient of his gen- erosity is the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State. Jean-Robert's Table is fashioned in the style of a French bistro. Members enjoyed appetizers with Roederer Estate Brut Anderson Valley N.V. before settling in for the delectable five-course dinner—the result of a masterful collaboration between Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Chuck Hong and Chef de Cavel. The wines were exquisitely paired by Vice Echanson Mary Horn, Vice Echanson Honoraire Mike Monnin, and their committee. While each dish was superb, the group's favorite was venison loin, accom- panied by K Vintners the Hidden Northridge Vineyard Syrah 2011. How fortunate Cincinnati is to have such a skilled and kind culinary legend!
