Sgt. Pepper 50th BY LEE MORGENTHALER, Bailli , AND JAY HARBERG, Vice Chargé de Presse THE BEATLES' SGT. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band won four Grammys, and this masterpiece became the first rock LP to be named Album of the Year. On September 15, 2017, the groovy cats of the Étoile Solitaire Bailliage— with a little help from New Orleans and San Antonio confr è res— celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the album's release with an epic evening of food, wine, and song at Houston's historic La Colombe D'or. Echanson Provincial William Ridlehuber, Vice Echanson Chrysa Lee, and Professionnel du Vin Monsterville Horton IV skillfully paired wines with Chef Martha De Leon's Beatles-themed menu. First on the dance floor were Bailli Honoraire Robyn Wood ( Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds ) and event chair Vice Chargé de Missions Jim Wood ( Sgt. Pepper ). The rest of the group quickly joined them in paying tribute to '60s go-go dance style as a Beatles tribute band performed. The Colombe d'Or's grand ballroom was the perfect setting for this fantastical event. This author isn't sure why, but many confrères seemed especially responsive to the line, "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four?"
