STITCH, Santa Barbara/Ojai Dame de la Chaîne THE EVENING OF November 19 was beautiful and clear in Santa Barbara, and the La Cumbre Country Club, set on a hilltop overlooking the the ocean, pro- vided spectacular views of the Santa Ynez Mountains. These vistas of what is sometimes called the American Riviera greeted mem- bers of the Santa Barbara/Ojai and Santa Ynez Valley bailliages who arrived at dusk for their joint induc- tion gala. Presiding offi- cer Bailli Délégué Honoraire Brooks Firestone opened the ceremony by induct- ing Chevalier Allan Jones and Dame de la Chaîne Carlene Jones into the Santa Ynez Valley Chapter. He then elevated Santa Ynez Valley Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Gabrielle Robins. Wanting to lighten up the formal tone, Bailli Délégué Honoraire Firestone and his wife, Santa Ynez Valley Professionnel du Vin Honoraire Kate Firestone, led the group in song, using the "Vintners, Cooks and Company" refrain with their own original chorus. The menu's globe-trotting theme, which began with Spanish tapas at the reception, continued with courses representing Italy, France, the United States, and Germany. Friendship and harmony at the table over- flowed. Confrères from both bailliages were delighted that the event was a resounding success.
