Enchanting Evening at Jillian's BY LAURA WALSH, Far West Chargée de Presse Provincial JILLIAN'S—A PREMIER fine-dining restaurant in the Palm Springs area—occupies a charming Spanish hacienda on El Paseo—aka "the Rodeo Drive of Palm Desert." Palm Springs Bailliage members enjoyed a delicious dinner there on November 6. Husband-and-wife team and co-owners Chef Jay Trubee and Manager June Trubee clearly appreciate the prime location of their restaurant. As attend- ees passed through wrought-iron gates to arrive in the enchant- ing garden patio, music filled the air. A starlit sky, with perfect eve- ning temperatures, added to the magical ambiance. Tasty passed hors d'oeuvres welcomed and wowed everyone. Surrounded by trees wrapped in twinkling lights, the interior courtyard provided more enchantment. Chef Trubee, who trained at the Culinary Institute of America, drew inspiration for the evening's menu from his travels in the United States and abroad. Seafood dominated the six-course meal. A crowd favorite was sautéed Chilean sea bass with coconut curry, paired with Domaine Michel Bouzereau Meursault les Grands Charrons 2014. Made in-house daily, the dessert of cara- melized pineapple polenta cake was delectable. The event offered fantastic cuisine of uncom- promised quality in a lovely setting with the best of company.
