Bash at Bernard's BY GINNIE KAGAN, Bailli ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2017, Connecticut Bailliage mem- bers gathered at Bernard's restaurant in Ridgefield, Connecticut, to welcome new members and witness the installation of the chapter's new board. Over the years, Bernard's has garnered numerous accolades, including the Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence and the OpenTable Diners' Choice Award. In 2014, Connecticut magazine named it the "Best Overall Restaurant in Connecticut." The ceremony was officiated by Chambellan Provincial/ New York Bailli James Wallick. Share the Chaîne pins were given to deserving confrères. At the recep- tion in the restaurant's beautiful gardens, attendees enjoyed sabering bottles of Paul Clouet Grand Cru Brut Champagne 2008. The subse- quent feast prepared by Co-Owner/Chef Bernard Bouïssou was nothing short of perfec- tion. Diners praised his creative use of produce grown onsite. These dishes included lobster salad; seared foie gras with fig, pear, and spinach; and boar with autumn vegetables. The chef's wife, Co-Owner/Chef Sarah Bouïssou, led the outstanding service staff. As a season opener, in which new members and new officers were welcomed in equal measure, the event could not have been any better. Confrères left feeling warmed by the promise of another superb Chaîne season.
