Inaugural Induction Dinner BY JAMES NELSON, Bailli IN 2017, THE Wilmington Bailliage became the newest bailliage in North Carolina. The chapter initially held several meet-and-greets for prospective members. It was also featured in a local television segment that spot- lighted the Chaîne and a member-owned restaurant in the area. The chapter's inaugural induction dinner was held on December 7 at the City Club of Wilmington. The club is situated in the de Rosset House, built in 1841 by physi- cian Armand John de Rosset III. According to the National Register of Historic Places, the stately man- sion is "the grandest of all Wilmington's antebellum Italianate dwellings." Bailli Provincial Tony Hirsh was assisted by Bailli James Nelson and Dame de la Chaîne Susan Nelson in induct- ing sixteen new confrères, including two professional members. The venue's beautiful holiday decorations added to the festive ambiance. The Wilmington Bailliage has an interesting slate of events planned for 2018, including a bourbon seminar with a representative from Jefferson's Bourbon; a get- away weekend in Kinston, North Carolina, with dinners at two Vivian Howard restaurants—the Boiler Room and the Chef & the Farmer; and a scholarship dinner at the Cape Fear Community College's Culinary Academy.
