The Past Dictates the Future BY KERRI-ANNE RECKORD, Vice Chargée de Presse ON DECEMBER 2, the Jamaica Bailliage held its annual induction dinner at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. Confrères were delighted to welcome Bailli Provincial Alan Feuerstein, who inducted ten new members into the chapter and three confrères into the Mondiale. Vice Chargée de Presse Honoraire Natascha Kessler Demetrius and Officier Maître de Table Restaurateur Gloria Schenk received their commandeur and officier commandeur pins, respectively, and Vice Chargée de Presse Kerri-Anne Reckord was awarded a Bronze Star of Excellence. Another highlight was the announcement of Bailli Derek Elder's appointment to cham- bellan provincial. Group Director of Marketing and Sales Nicola Madden-Greig, General Manager Peter Hilary, and Executive Chef Mark Cole worked assiduously to ensure a fantastic evening. Using the theme "the past dictates the future," Chef Cole created a menu that spotlighted the role Jamaican cuisine has played in the global culinary landscape in the past and celebrated the future of Jamaican cuisine. For example, black land crab was considered a delicacy at the time of Jamaica's Great Exhibition of 1891. In closing, Chambellan Provincial/Bailli Elder and Bailli Provincial Feuerstein presented a commemorative Chaîne plate to the Jamaica Pegasus team to show the chapter's deep appreciation for the wonderful evening.
