in the Big Apple BY HELEN CAPPUCCINO, Northeast Chargée de Presse Provincial/Buffalo Bailli CONFRÈRES FROM TWELVE bailliages in the Northeast Region came together in New York City from April 27-29 for a weekend of fun, frivolity, and fine dining. Bailli Délégué Harold Small, joined by his wife, San Diego Grand Officier Susan Small, made the cross-country trip to officiate the ceremonies, meetings, and other formal business. On Friday, confrères relished a splendid dinner at Owner/Chef Tom Colicchio's Temple Court restaurant in the haute chic Beekman Hotel. Chef Colicchio, Executive Chef Carlos Benedicto, and Executive Pastry Chef Abby Swain brought their "A" game, with an assist from the restaurant's bright sommelier. The reception and repast were held in an intimate private-dining area. A few attendees who stayed late spent time in the hotel's speakeasy-style space with Chambellan Provincial/New York Bailli Jim Wallick and his officers. After a morning of meetings on Saturday, confrères dispersed to make the most of being in the Big Apple. Activities included an under- ground tour of the subway, a tour revealing the "Secrets of Grand Central Station," and another tour revealing the "Secrets of Central Park." At the University Club of New York, Louis XIII Private Clients Executive Director Monique Lodi treated a small group of lucky attendees to a "Six Sensory Experience" with tastings of the legendary cognac. The group reconvened that evening for a swanky black-tie event at the University Club, renowned for its monumental, landmarked club- house designed by Charles McKim of McKim, Mead & White. Inducted into the New York Chapter by Bailli Délégué Small were Dames de la Chaîne Elizabeth Cook and Elizabeth Chaillou; Maître Hôtelier Anthony McHale, who is managing director of the Carlyle Hotel; and Grand Officier Maître Ronald Pietruszka.
