Diamonds Are Forever BY ROBIN DU BRIN, Pacific Northwest Chargée de Presse Provincial THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST Regional Chapitre from April 12-15 opened with a special event: the Silicon Valley Bailliage's annual induction din- ner. Originally called the San Jose Chapter, the Silicon Valley Bailliage was founded in 1980 by Bailli Honoraire Kalman Cseuz, among others. Silicon Valley confrères were pleased to welcome members from other chapters in the region, and some chapitre attendees arrived early for the occasion. A reception at the Fairmont San Jose hotel was followed by dinner at Élyse, which offers a combination of French and Vietnamese cuisine. Friday brought opportunities to explore San Jose; some members visited museums, while others made use of the bike trails. The entire group con- vened for an outing to the Testarossa Winery. The drive through the Santa Cruz Mountains afforded gorgeous views of green hillsides and quaint vil- lages dotting the Los Gatos wine country. Upon arrival, attendees were swept up in what felt like a party atmosphere. Part of the tour included seeing where the original Novitiate Winery housed its caves and cellars. As the win- ery website notes, the Novitiate Winery was built in 1888 by Jesuit Fathers and Brothers from Santa Clara College.
