were present as many confrères took the opportunity to tour the city. A French cooking demonstration featuring one of the weekend's major sponsors, TurboPot, was offered, as were seminars titled "Flavors of Charleston" and "Chocolate and Wine Pairing." That evening, the group came together for a special reception at the college. On Saturday, the Young Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition began bright and early as ten regional winners vied for top honors in the Chaîne's national competition. Once again, confrères were invited to attend various seminars. The induction and awards dinner that evening was held in the Francis Marion's Gold Ballroom. Bailli Délégué Harold Small served as inducting officer. Immediately following the ceremony, the winners of all three competitions were announced. The winner of the Young Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition was Logan Christensen for "Best Dessert" (by a non-Pastry competitor). He will go on to compete against other young chefs from around the globe in the international competition in Taiwan in September. The contest will be held at the Ching Kuo Institute, whose motto is "cooking is a work of art, while dining is a matter of culture." The delicious menu for the gala dinner was created by the hotel's executive chef, Simon Andrews, who also teaches at Trident Technical College.
