Route Around the Boot BY JOHN FLAMMANG, Southeast Chargé de Presse Provincial "HOLIDAY IN ITALY" was the theme of the Bonita Mondiale's event on December 4. Attendees enjoyed great wines of Italy at the Pelican's Nest Golf Club, which was beauti- fully decorated for the season with spar- kling embellishments and several life-size Nutcrackers. The wine tour was led by Kiril Tsarev— one of two Advanced Sommeliers who are permanent residents of Southwest Florida. After working as a som- melier, manager, food and beverage director, and wine director, his passion for wine led him to the wine and spirits distribution industry. He is currently a wine and spirits sales representative for the Republic National Distributing Company. Attendees learned about some of Italy's wine regions, aging differences among some Italian wines, and unique requirements for labeling various wines. Mr. Tsarev explained that the goal is to give consumers con- fidence in the wines they are buying. He also noted that Italian wines should be enjoyed with good food. Executive Chef Cameron Hord created a menu that more than fulfilled that need! Bailli William Vareschi presented a Chaîne decanter to Mr. Tsarev and a Mondiale plate to Chef Hord in thanks for the wonderful and informative evening.
