A Night in Paris BY JIM RAY, Southwest Chargé de Presse Provincial Honoraire ON DECEMBER 9, members of the San Antonio Bailliage gathered at the San Antonio Country Club for "A Night in Paris"-themed holiday dinner and dance. The club is always beautifully decorated for the sea- son. General Manager/Conseiller Culinaire Provincial Honoraire Marvin Jones and Executive Chef Nelson Millán presented a spectacular five-course dinner, while Vice Echanson Jeff Degner expertly selected the perfect wine pairings from the chapter's cellar. In keeping with the event theme, the wines were from different regions of France. At the reception, attendees enjoyed an array of delicious appetizers, served with Louis Roederer Premier Brut N.V. and Château Vignot Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2007. They then moved to the elegant dining room, where the tables were adorned with center- pieces overflowing with lovely flowers. The culinary highlight of the evening was the dessert buffet; no one could resist the gorgeous display of miniature sweets and assorted nuts and cheeses. The Mo-Dels, a well-known San Antonio band, played favorite dance tunes.
