Local Young Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition BY ROBIN DU BRIN, Pacific Northwest Chargée de Presse Provincial , AND MICHELE HEIDT, Officier THE SEATTLE CHAPTER held its annual Young Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition at the Art Institute of Seattle on January 20. Attendees had just received word of the passing of world- renowned Chef Paul Bocuse. The day was dedicated to him and his indelible contribu- tions to the culinary arts, which included mentoring young chefs. Five contestants competed for the privi- lege of advancing to the regional competition. Acclaimed chefs and restaurateurs Bruno Feldeisen, Maître de Table Restaurateur Roy Breiman, Philip Mihalski, Ethan Stowell, and Maître Rôtisseur Sean Ellis comprised the panel of tasting judges. Art Institute of Seattle Director/Maître Rôtisseur Chef David Wynne and Maître Rôtisseur Tamas Ronyai served as kitchen judges. Seattle confrères came to cheer on the young chefs. Bailli Robert Cugini and Officier Michele Heidt noted that this group of contestants was exceptionally talented. They explained that because the scores were so close, Sean Wornstaff, who placed second, would advance to the regional competition along with winner Joshua McKinnon. Dame de la Chaîne Caroline Goedhart and 2017 Seattle Young Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition winner Chef Taylor Pagano were of great help to Officier Heidt, who organized the competition for the second year in a row.
