Trick or Treating with Napoleon BY TONY RITTER, Vice Chargé de Presse ON OCTOBER 26, the New Orleans Bailliage went trick or treating in the French Quarter. As the sun set and the moon rose, the fun began. Upon arriving at the Napoleon House, the costumed members rang the bell and yelled, "Trick or treat!" Luckily for them, the man who opened the door was Executive Chef Chris Montero. "I don't want any tricks, so I will give you culinary treats," he said, usher- ing them in. Thus, the Halloween celebration was underway. With the tricksters now in his clutches, the chef let out a demonic laugh and went to con- jure some gastronomic delights. The leaders of the ghostly group, Bailli Yvette Cressend and Argentier National Honoraire Rufus Cressend, declared that all must have a drink of the grape with the repast. Vice Chancelier- Argentier William Feibleman and Vice Echanson Wayne Forman obliged with a Bacchanalian spell. The smoke dissipated to reveal bottles of wine that were happily not an illusion. At evening's end, Argentier National Honoraire Cressend presented Chef Montero with a Chaîne cheese plate and an award of merit plaque. Despite the chef's foreboding, he had not only given treats but had received some as well.
