Kapalua Christmas BY JUDITH KELLOGG, Hawaii/Pacific Islands Chargée de Presse Provincial MAUI IS RENOWNED for its natural beauty and luxu- rious resorts. One of its most exquisite and exclusive properties is the Montage Kapalua Bay. On December 12, Maui Bailliage members gathered there for a glori- ous Christmas gala. The Montage Kapalua Bay is known for its elegance and attention to detail, and the event wonderfully showcased these values. Attendees arrived in time to enjoy a spectacular ocean view of the sunset. At the reception, they were welcomed Maître Hôtelier Colleen O'Shea Brady, who was inducted that eve- ning by Chambellan Provincial Chris Speere. Bailli Adele Rugg also awarded Officier Maître Rôtisseur Alfred Vollenweider a well- deserved Bronze Star of Excellence. Following the cer- emony, members took their seats at beautifully decorated tables for the six-course menu cre- ated by Executive Chef David Viviano. The chef's Sicilian heritage and passion for Italian cuisine were apparent in the delicious meal, perfectly paired with Italian and Sicilian wines. On this balmy Hawaiian evening, Maui confrères experienced two of the best aspects of the Chaîne: lively camaraderie and a superb repast. It was indeed a magical night to remember.
