BY SANDRA CUTTER, Vice Chargée de Presse FEBRUARY 29 ONLY happens every four years, so when it does comes around, why not celebrate it in style? Des Moines Bailliage members commemorated Leap Day with a special dinner prepared by Co-Owners/Chefs Susan Madorsky and Cherry Madole at the duo's Tangerine Food Company in West Des Moines. The event was BYOB, and attendees celebrated the "leap" theme by bringing bottles of Frog's Leap and Stags' Leap wines to share. Event hosts Dame de la Chaîne Allison Fleming and Chevalier Jim Fleming presented a Methuselah of Domaine Carneros sparkling wine. The bottle fit the theme because it was a 2008 vintage—itself a leap year! While the entire meal was excellent, the pasta stuffed with parsnip, goat cheese, apple, and sage was extraordinary! Des Moines confrères look forward to celebrating Leap Day again in 2020! G Ringing in the Chinese New Year BY SUSAN HURLEY ESSON, Vice Chargée de Presse FEBRUARY 8, 2016 her- alded the Chinese Year of the Monkey, and West Palm Beach Bailliage members were happy to celebrate. Lucky for them, Bailli Leila Warren knows there is no better place in Palm Beach to do this than at Echo restaurant at the Breakers Palm Beach. Some attendees took the event theme a step further by wearing traditional Chinese attire. The spectacular evening was perfectly executed by General Manager Christopher Haretos, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage David Thall, and Executive Chef Josef Morera, who pre- pared a five-course extravaganza showcasing Chinese delicacies. While the Year of the Monkey is predicted to be a good year to break free and take calculated risks, obviously there was no risk taken when Bailli Warren selected Echo to host this event. And if that weren't enough, the evening closed with chocolate- dipped fortune cookies, which assured West Palm Beach confrères many more years of wonderful Chaîne events under the direction of their beloved leader.
