Afternoon BY ROBIN DU BRIN, Pacific Northwest Chargée de Presse Provincial/Seattle Vice Chargée de Presse APRIL 29 STARTED out rainy and gray as Seattle Bailliage members headed to their annual business meeting via the West Seattle King County Water Taxi. The amiable staff at Salty's Waterfront Seafood Grill on Alki Beach greeted them with delicious hors d'oeuvres and champagne. While old friends caught up on each others' lives, the sun peeked through the clouds. By the end of lunch, the city across the water lay gleaming and reflected in Elliott Bay. Delighted with the view, many attendees expressed how fortu- nate they felt to live in such a beautiful place. The original venue for the event had been the Rainier Club in downtown Seattle, but unfortunately a fire that began in a nearby building destroyed the club's kitchen. Professionnel du Vin Chris Chan, who has many friends in the culinary industry, was able to secure the new location at the last minute. There could have been no place more beautiful, and attendees were grateful for his quick work in rescuing their gathering and locating them in such a gorgeous spot on the Puget Sound. They also appreciated the Salty's team making this last-minute accommodation for them. G SEATTLE Dame Terri Richardson, Chevalier Jim Goedhart, Chevalier Douglas Howe and Anne Dor. Bailli Hon.
