The Soul of Spain BY BEVERLY MENTZER, Vice Chargée de Presse ON NOVEMBER 7, 2015, Lacs et des Bois Mondiale members gathered at the home of Bailli Cheryl Kenny and Chevalier Steve Kenny to celebrate the wines of Spain and honor several confrères. A guitarist played soulful Spanish music at the reception, where attend- ees enjoyed appetizers prepared by Owner/Chef Scott Caples and his team from Gourmet on the Way. It was an honor to have Bailli Provincial Bill Salomon and Grand Echanson Charlie Bennett perform the Chaîne and Mondiale inductions. Dame de la Chaîne Sharon Curran-Wescott and Chevalier Ray Mentzer were awarded Share the Chaîne pins for introducing to the chapter the evening's four inductees. In addition, Chevalier Kenny was elevated to officier in recognition of his many years of devoted service. Vice Echanson Terry Mathis educated and enter- tained the group with a history of Spanish wines. During the evening, a few single bottles from the bail- liage's cellar were auctioned off to raise funds for the Chaîne Foundation. In total, $440 was raised for culi- nary scholarships. Before confrères departed, Bailli Kenny honored Chef Caples with a Chaîne certificate for providing the delicious fare at this amazing Spain-themed evening.
