Benefit Dinner for Paris BY BILL TRIPPLER, Vice Chargé de Presse ON JANUARY 9, the Orlando Chapter, in conjunc- tion with Le Coq au Vin restaurant, held a New Year's benefit dinner to assist the families of the victims of the terrorist bombings in Paris. Distinguished guest Christophe Malvezin—the Agricultural Counselor for the French Embassy in the United States—traveled from Washington, D.C. to receive the funds generated by the dinner, donations, and silent auction. The venue was decked out for a New Year's celebra- tion, complete with music provided by Blondetourage. Conseiller Culinaire et des Professionnels National Reimund Pitz made opening remarks before introduc- ing Mr. Malvezin and his wife, Franny Malvezin. Mr. Malvezin spoke about the attacks and noted that the Chaîne's contribution was greatly appreciated. The menu showcased traditional French cuisine paired with wines selected by Echanson Provincial Honoraire Peter Burke. Bailli Muriel Uttal concluded the event with the presentation of certificates to the culinary team and acknowledgement of the contributors to the silent auction. The event raised $1,300 for the victims' families and an additional $1,000 for the Chaîne Foundation. This special evening allowed confrères to express their deep compassion for those who are suffering and will- ingness to help with their recovery.
