Tradition BY ALAN D. BANTA, Vice Chargé de Presse ON DECEMBER 2, the Wichita Bailliage, as it does every year, held its annual holiday induction dinner at the beautiful Wichita Country Club. The evening began with Bailli Provincial Bill Salomon elevating Bailli Theo Mellion to the position long held by the late Joe Bunk. Bailli Honoraire Bunk and his wife, Dame de la Chaîne Donna Bunk, had been the heart and soul of the bailliage for several years. A tremendous host, gastronome, and connoisseur, Bailli Honoraire Bunk was also a pillar of the com- munity. He will be greatly missed. Also elevated were Vice Chargé de Presse Alan Banta, Vice Conseiller Culinaire Robert Lane, and Vice Echanson Jamie Stratton. In addition, Chevaliers Gerald Estep, Robert Gibson, and Andrew Jones were inducted. Bailli Provincial Salomon and Bailli Mellion then inducted twenty-four confrères into the newly formed Wichita Mondiale. With the formalities concluded, attendees enjoyed an excellent meal crafted by Executive Chef Roger Meier and orchestrated by General Manager/Maître de Table Restaurateur Cory Conklin. The wine and food pairings were superb, the setting lovely, and the camaraderie heartwarming. Even the weather was mild—which should never be taken for granted in the upper Midwest!
